How many Colors can you have per room?
Question: How many colors can you have per room - is there a general rule?
Answer: No, there is no general rule as to how many colors you introduce into a color scheme. Oftentimes, we find ourselves getting carried away by infusing outbursts of color randomly throughout the space. In planning your scheme, try to avoid visual overload by keeping colors at a minimum.
Too many colors in one space can appear overwhelming to the eye!
If you’re working from an empty palette you many consider creating a color scheme with 2-3 predominate colors and then marrying it up with 1-2 accent colors. A simple decorating guideline in balancing the proportion of colors within a room is to create a visual story by appointing predominate colors to larger elements as that of furniture
pieces and accent colors for pillows, vases and other small decorative elements.
If you have fabrics and other accessories already established in your décor, it’s important to note that these elements will generally dictate your color direction where you can pull out a few of the colors and tie them in with your accessory pieces.
